  • Hart Island

Hart Island is popularly known as “Island of the Dead” and is considered America’s largest mass burial site. Hart Island is located in New York and was first used as a prisoner of war camp during the American civil war where almost 200 of the Confederate soldiers died. After this, the island was used as a psychiatric institution.

Beside this the dark history of this island that it was also used as dumping ground for those bodies which weren’t able to have a proper burial as well as it is also used as a disposal ground for amputated body parts.

  • Poveglia island

Poveglia Island is situated between Venice and Lido in the Venetian Lagoon in Northern Italy has witnessed many tragedies over the year. Poveglia island was affected by a severe plague in 1793. Therefore, the island was turned into a quarantine area where most people affected by the plague just rotted away until they finally died.

After the plague finally ended, the old building at the island turned into an asylum for the mentally ill and deranged people. It said that the main doctor of the asylum was a maniacal person himself and was known to perform brutal experiments on the patients of the asylum.

Star Island is situated in Miami, Florida (United States) has had many reports of haunting and paranormal activities. Star Island was discovered in the 1600’s and then inhabited by local fishermen, the island has everything from pirates to tragic death over the centuries.

Regarding Cottage E, many of the people who have stayed at cottage E reported feeling mysterious forces or small hands on their back pushing them down the stairs whereas the Chapel looks like a quite a charming places to visit especially during the day and hold on tight to the railing when you go down staircase but, it is also said to be haunted.

Isola La Gaiola island is situated in the Gulf of Naples, Italy. It was all started when a Swiss businessman bought the island, only lived on this island for few months before he was found murdered, wrapped in a rug is his villa.

The next owner Maurice-Yves Sandoz, a pharmaceutical industrialist after living on this island for a short time, he becomes crazy and later had to be moved to a mental hospital in Switzerland. In the end, he commits suicide in that very mental hospital. There are many tragic incidents like this. According to the local Naples people, the Isola La Gaiola island is riddled with a curse called “Gaiola Malediction”.

  • Dead Man’s Island

Dead man’s island is located off the Vancouver Harbor in British Columbia. It is said that the southern and northern tribes of the Vancouver Harbor fought over the Dead man’s island. Until that day when the southern tribe managed to kidnap 200 women, children and elders in return northern tribe sent 200 warriors in exchange for the hostages and they were killed on the spot.

In the 1890’s a smallpox epidemic hit Vancouver and the island was used as a pest house. However, many people never recovered and their ghosts are said to inhabit the island.

  • Isla De Las Munecas Island

Isla De Las Munecas island is popularly knowns as the “Island of the Dolls” and is located in Mexico. It all started in the 1950’s, when a man named “Don Julian Santana Barrera” hear the little girl screams and as well as saw the footsteps, after following the footstep he found a little girl who had drowned in the canal. He reported this incident to the locals about his “Child” issues.

To appease the spirit of the drowned child, he decided it hang dolls all around the island. He thought by this way he would be able to the drowned girl spirit at ease but it only made the dolls become paranormally energetic, with many people reporting dolls moving and whispering to them. It seemed to attract even more ghosts and spirits to the islands.

Okinawa island is largest island of Japan. There are many places said to be haunted in this island among them the most famous haunted in this island Building 2283. This building is located behind the United Services Organization on Kadena Air Base.

There is a horror truth behind the Building 2283, it all began with an old military man coming home from a long day of work. After, walking through the door he decided to abruptly massacre his whole family and kill himself after without anyone knowing why.

Well, there is a saying that “History repeats itself”. A few years later the house was resold to another middle-class family. Shortly after moving into Building 2283 the new owner of the building started reporting strange activities occurring in their house. Later, the same murder-suicide incident happened again, the owner of the house killed his own entire family for an unknown reason.
