Have you ever had to remember something that’s really hard to remember? It happens with all of us all the time. Mnemonic Devices are also known as Memory Aids. Mnemonic comes from the Greek language “MNEMON” meaning in the English language is “Mindful”. It was discovered by the Ancient Greek which makes it one of the oldest ways of memorizing and still work for us too.

These people recognize that there is something which we remember naturally. We don’t have to think hard to remember our names, family/ friends names or what happened in our favorite movie and novel etc. But, we all need to work hard upon in subject is history, mathematics in studies or to upgrade your IQ we need to focus upon other things too such as historical places their dates and names of different President’s, countries and their capitals name.

See we need to memorize whole lot of things together which is really a difficult for all of us. As not everyone is good at each and every subject matter or field. So what to do now? There is no need of panic for that kind of memory one should use the “Mnemonic Devices”.

“Mnemonic Devices” is the extra information layer which help us to remember things easily or make things easier for us to remember. The marvelous technique of mnemonic devices which is popularly used by Greek is Method of Loci.

Method of Loci

 The method of Loci basically uses the term Acronym into its technique. What is an Acronym? An acronym is simply an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other word or in other words it is composed of the first letters first letters of the words in a phrase, especially when this is used as a name. So, what we have to do? We simply need to put the term acronym into work. Well, let me remind you that you are using acronym since you were in kinder garden. Do you remember how you use to learn all English alphabets, rainbow colors? By using the acronym.

Example, ROYGBIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet), ABC song or you can try making a sentence out of it.

Sometimes, we can use something physical object as a Mnemonic device as well as poems, rhymes and songs can be used as mnemonic devices too. Remember one thing a mnemonic device is not always working for everyone, not every mnemonic device works for everyone. As every human has different personality, learning power. There are many different mnemonic devices according to different human being even one can create their own unique mnemonic too.
