Who does not want a bit of extra cash left over from the monthly budget? And who does not desire to treat oneself more than usual for not overspending? The joy of some saved up pocket money becomes overwhelming especially when you are a student with a limited budget. Every leftover penny that you can spend on delicious food or super fun hangout is worth everything! But where is the biggest margin to save money? You cannot compromise on your social activities, nor can you deprive yourself of good food and socialization. Cutting down necessary academic expenditures are a big No No as well! Your best bet is to make reductions in your clothing expenses. But beware! Do not go for a lower quality product but instead use these hacks to continue looking as sleek as ever while secretly sliding the extra cash in your back pocket.

Shop Intelligently:

When you step into your favorite store do not let yourself be overpowered by all the great designs they have on display. Especially stay away from the store center, that’s where they have all the high priced items! Instead, keep your focus on what you are really there for. One thing that you really need is a steady collection of polo shirts. Yes, you will have to spend money when you buy polo shirts but you will save a lot more when you can wear your polo shirts on numerous occasions. Phew!! Save a mall crawl or two before every event on your calendar. Polo shirts are the most badass all-rounders ever created! Slide them under your jacket for a semi-formal look, pair them with shorts for an outdoor gaming session, or team up with regular pieces of denim for stylish errand day out!

Get into your Sleepwear:

On a fair note, this is not a hack but more of a lifestyle switch. Nevertheless, you will thank me for this one later because this genuinely works on a long term basis. Whether it is an old faded t-shirt with your 20th-century trousers or a newly bought pajama set you need to start wearing it before you head to your bed. The habit of sliding under the covers with whatever you have been wearing all day long is quite literally deadly for your clothing!! It wears them out very quickly, sucks all the shine out of them and they start looking worn out in a month or two. It leaves you no choice but to shop again, and well we all know what that leads to OVERSPENDING!!

Accessorize Right:

They may seem tiny and complimentary but let me tell you a grave secret, they are quite big leeches on your bank account! To create a look that’s closest to perfection you need to accessorize right. The key is to shop generic tones when it comes to belts, cufflinks, ties, etc. We often forget that they are accessories, the purpose of their existence is to compliment our outfit and not the other way around. Keeping subtle tones for accessories will ensure that you most certainly have something in your wardrobe that will go perfectly with your look.

Imitate Bigger Labels:

Social media is your best friend for keeping up with the latest trends of the season. Follow big label’s pages and watch them like a hawk, if you can while making mental notes of what you like. You can most definitely find similar in fact sometimes exactly identical copies of the clothing pieces in your local market that you have been drooling over on the internet. To be honest, a solid black button-down shirt will remain a black button-down shirt whether it is from Ralph Lauren or local clothing store. So why not save a few extra bucks all the while maintaining a dapper and most fashion-forward style profile in your social circle.

Strategize Your Yearly Shopping:

Brands do not put up sales out of the blue; they have a yearly plan of when each clothing line will go on sale. So read through the sale pattern of your desired clothing brand and instead of shopping whimsically wait patiently for the right time to shop and grab more items in the same budget! And if you do not want to put in a lot of effort, just ask at one of their stores about the upcoming sales!  Unfortunately, in Pakistan clothing brands have exchange but no refund policy, and when you exchange an item that is now on sale, you get the reduced price instead of what you originally paid. Save yourself from the heartbreak!!

Dressing up in style and being up to date with fashion trends does not mean that you spend thousands of hard earned money like nothing! All you need to do is to keep your fashion senses alive and improvise where needed!

Money can’t buy you everything! Not style, for sure!!
